This PRIVACY AND SECURITY STATEMENT (the “Privacy Statement”) describes the types of personal information Dunn Lumber Company, Inc., a Washington corporation (the “Company”), collects on DunnLumber.com (the “Site”), how the Company may use that information, and with whom the Company may share it. The Privacy Statement also describes the measures taken to protect the security of user personal information.

Privacy Overview

The Company does not sell or disclose personal information to third parties except (i) as required by law, (ii) as is necessary to provide services requested by you, or (iii) as otherwise requested and authorized by you. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Company will make your personal information available to those individuals, business partners, and other third parties who reasonably require access to such information to fulfil your orders or to provide services to you.

The Company may collect information from or about you when you place an order, subscribe to the Company’s newsletter, respond to a survey, or fill out a form on the Site.

Like many other websites, the Site automatically tracks certain information about user activity. The information tracked includes the browser used, IP address of the user, and the pages visited. The Company uses this information to continually assess and improve the Site and the products and services offered.

The Company may share aggregate or summary information regarding Site visitors with partners, advertisers, or other third parties. Such information, however, reflects general trends among users and does not identify individual users.

Collection and Use of Personal Information

When you purchase items on the Site, the Company will gather the following information from to fulfill and track the order:

  • Your Name

  • Shipping or delivery address

  • Billing address

  • E-mail address

  • Phone number

  • Credit card number

The information we collect from you may be used in one or more of the following ways:

  • To personalize user experiences. User information helps the Company to better respond to individual needs.

  • To improve the Site. The Company continually strives to improve web offerings based on the information and feedback received from users.

  • To improve the Company’s customer service. User information helps the Company to more effectively respond to customer service requests and support needs.

  • To process transactions. User information, whether public or private, will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your prior consent, other than for the express purpose of delivering the purchased product or service requested.

  • To send periodic emails. The email address provided for order processing may be used to send information and updates pertaining to orders, as well as occasional Company news, updates, related product or service information, etc.

  • Users may opt out of email communications at any time using the opt out or unsubscribe link located at the bottom of any Company email.

Cookies

A “cookie” is a small data file that a website or an email may save to a user’s browser, which may then be stored on the user’s hard drive. The Site uses cookies to create a more personalized shopping experience for users. Cookies allow the Company to "remember" information about user preferences and Site viewing sessions and allow users to move between different areas of the Site without the need to reenter information.

The Company uses cookies to collect non-personally identifiable information about the user’s operating system, browser version, IP Address, and geo-location if users are accessing the Site using a mobile device. Although cookies may contain a unique user ID, they do not collect or store any information that reveals the user’s name or any other personal data.

You may choose not to accept cookies by changing your browser settings. However, if you do not accept cookies, your user experience on the Site may be diminished and the shopping cart may not function properly.

Call Center

When contacting the Company’s call center with a question about a product, order status, or billing issue, callers may be asked for information that identifies the caller, along with additional information as necessary to answer the caller’s question. This includes the caller’s name, address and a phone number where the caller may be reached. The Company is authorized to retain this information to assist with any future issues.

Passwords

Some users may create a commercial business account on the Site. Accounts require the use of a password in order to access a user’s information online.

In order to protect personal information, please do not share passwords. If a user wishes to change their password, or if a user becomes aware of any loss, theft or unauthorized use of a Site password, please contact the Company immediately.

The Company will never request passwords, credit card information, or other personal data through email. This practice, called "phishing", is a scam designed to steal personal information. If you receive an email that appears to be from the Company requesting this type of personal information, please delete it and contact the Company immediately.

Privacy Preferences / Opt-Out

If you have a commercial business account, you may request to see the personal information that the Company has retained. To access your user account information online at any time, click the “Your Account” link.

Although you may have opted out of receive marketing communications, you may still get order confirmations, product recall notices or other order-related communications specific to your account and/or products.

Information Sharing

If you have opted in to receive communications from the Company, the Company may share your information with third parties that provide support services (such as a printer, mailing house, or web host) or that help the Company market products and services. Such third parties are not authorized to use the information shared with them for any other purpose.

The Company will not use or disclose any information provided to third parties for support services for any purpose other than:

  • To ship orders and confirm delivery;

  • To identify or resolve technical problems or Customer Service issues;

  • As required by law and to comply with a court order or other legal process;

  • To respond to claims that personalized messages violate the rights of third parties;

  • To protect the rights or property of the Company and its affiliates; and

  • As otherwise authorized by you.

Protecting Children’s Privacy

The Company recognizes the importance of protecting privacy where children are involved. The Company is committed to protecting children's privacy on the internet and complies fully with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

The Company does not sell any items directly to anyone known by the Company to be under the age of 18. If a user is under the age of 18, they are prohibited from using the Site to submit orders or purchase any items. In addition, the Company does not intentionally collect any personal information from anyone known by the Company to be under the age of 13. Users under the age of 13 are prohibited from accessing or using the Site.

Notice to California Customers

California law permits residents of California to request certain details about how their information is shared with third parties for direct marketing purposes. However, at this time, Dunn Lumber does not share information with third parties for direct marketing purposes.

Security measures on our site - General

When you place orders on the Site, all of the order information, including credit card numbers and delivery addresses, is transmitted through the internet using Secure Sockets Layer (“SSL”) technology. SSL technology causes the browser to encrypt order information before transmitting it to the Company’s secure server. SSL technology, an industry standard, is designed to prevent someone other than operators of the Site from viewing and capturing personal information.

Although the Company uses industry standard means to protect the Site and customer information your access of the Site may not be completely secure. The Company does not represent or warrant that your access of the Site will be completely safe. The Company encourages all users to exercise caution when using the Site.

As an added security measure, the Company does not maintain or store any credit card information on its servers. When users submit credit card payment information, this information is immediately 'tokenized,' or converted to a 16-character, organically random generated, alphanumeric ID that can only be securely regenerated by the Company’s provider, Shift4. In an of itself, this has no meaning and no decipherable relation to credit card data. All card data is securely handled in a Shift4 PCI-compliant data center, which is the only place a relation between card data and the token exists.

After a transaction is complete, your credit card number will not be retained or kept on file.

Other Related Matters - Sale of Business

If some or all of the business assets of the Site are sold or transferred, corresponding information about customers will also be transferred to the successors and/or assigns. Nevertheless, the Company may retain a copy of such customer information.

Links and Third Party Web Sites

The Site may contain links to third party websites. If users of the Site click on one of those links, they do so at their own risk. Third party websites are not controlled or monitored by the Company. This Privacy Statement does not apply to the information practices of those websites. Users should read the privacy policies of third party websites carefully. The Company is not responsible for any issues, losses, or breaches that you may experience by accessing or using third party websites.
