Continuing Education Resources
Dunn Lumber is committed to providing advanced training opportunities and necessary certifications for those in our industry.
From the latest tools and construction techniques, to federally mandated certifications, we are there to support you. Below are a few of the offerings that we make available during the calendar year. You will also find links to some very valuable online resources.
New technologies continue to create revolutionary products in the construction industry, often requiring specialized installation tools and techniques: new building materials create an even greater urgency for education. We can no longer rely on tradition for training. The shortage of serious hands-on educational programs erodes the reputation of our industry. The Katz Roadshow, a unique strategic partnership of leading manufacturers and installation specialists, provides hands-on training clinics for professionals at lumberyards across America.
Since 1995, the JLC LIVE Residential Construction Show has brought editorial content to life from The Journal of Light Construction magazine on an exhibit hall floor. From the first show in Cambridge, Massachusetts, JLC LIVE has become a must-attend regional event for residential construction professionals. The unique combination of hands-on education in conjunction with manufacturer exhibits is what differentiates JLC LIVE from any other trade show in the industry. In addition to all the education found in the exhibit hall JLC LIVE also offers a top-notch educational conference program.

For more than 30 years, he has specialized in finish carpentry working on a wide range of projects -- from tract housing to expansive custom homes; from office tenant improvement to schools and hospitals. During that time Gary has trained many carpenters on everything from basic techniques to advanced design and joinery. Gary is a popular presenter at national trade shows and lumber yards where he demonstrates finish carpentry techniques, and leads carpentry seminars and hands-on workshops.
THISisCarpentry (TiC) is a dynamic, interactive journal written BY carpenters, FOR carpenters. TiC offers detailed, well-illustrated articles about construction techniques, new tools of the trade, improving carpentry skills, and much more. Our goal is to create a community magazine, a place where craftsmen can contribute to their field and support other carpenters, builders, and contractors. We promote active dialogue by making it easy for readers to post comments about articles, and for authors to respond to comments.
THE JOURNAL OF LIGHT CONSTRUCTION is the only 100% paid subscription magazine read by remodeling and building pros nationwide. - A completely redesigned HousingZone.com that’s easier to use, but still retains more than a decade’s worth of editorial archives for Professional Remodeler, Professional Builder and Custom Builder.
