Duties

  • Must safely load, transport and deliver products.
  • General care and cleaning of equipment and daily safety checks.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Keep vehicle stocked with items needed for efficient and safe material delivery. (Band cutters, flags, first aid kit, flares, map books, vehicle maintenance log, etc.)
  • Become acquainted with vehicle operations manual, and keep an inventory of all additives on hand. (Coolant, washer fluid, motor oil, etc.)
  • Be a good advertisement for Dunn Lumber Company by being extra courteous to other motorists.
  • Keep a clear head at work to avoid accidents on the job.
  • Load customers with materials in an efficient and courteous fashion.
  • Maintain assigned areas, and all areas worked in throughout the day.
  • Keep the yard clean and constantly work to protect material from damaging weather factors.
  • Stock materials as directed.
  • Unload incoming trucks as directed.
  • Pull orders for Dunn Lumber stores as directed.
  • Check in material from outside vendors, as well as other Dunn Lumber locations.
  • Check all paperwork for accuracy.
  • Dump smaller garbage dumpsters into larger dumpster.
  • Conduct yourself each day in a manner consistent with Dunn Lumber's core values.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Two years experience as a delivery driver.
  • General product knowledge regarding building industry materials.
  • Strong knowledge of mapping systems and the ability to drive to and from various locations.
  • Good oral and written communication skills using the English language.
  • Valid Washington State Drivers license.
  • CDL class A or B strongly preferred.
  • Able to maintain a good working relationship with all employees and customers.
  • Must be prompt and on time to work with regular attendance.

Responsibilities

  • The delivery driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of lumber and all related building products to customers of Dunn Lumber Co. The duties also include excellent customer service, and strong productive relations with all related sales and yard work force.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures including Safety policies.
  • Attend monthly safety committee meetings.
  • Promptly report all accidents/incidents.
  • Keep supervisor informed of progress and activities as deemed necessary.
  • Maintain consistent level of professionalism while representing Dunn Lumber Company.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • Constant sitting and driving
  • Occasional standing, walking bending, and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to pass DOT physical exam.
  • General physical strength to load lumber, sheet goods, and concrete for an extended period of time (up to 12 hours).
