  • Meet and greet customers.
  • Provide sales assistance including; ordering, customer service, sales and returns.
  • Assist with basic merchandising maintenance and stocking.
  • Perform general cleaning.
  • Answer phones and inquires, take messages for employees.
  • Order non-VMI stock as assigned.
  • Load in-store items for customers.
  • Update will-call orders.
  • When requested assist Outside crew with Loading customer merchandise.
  • Work trade shows and attend industry meetings as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 2 years customer service and retail sales experience.
  • Basic knowledge of the construction materials and their uses.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn Company computer system.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills using the English language.
  • Able to maintain a good working relationship with all employees and customers.
  • Must be prompt, on time to work and have regular attendance.


  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Properly handle hand and power tools necessary to carry out your duties.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of building material and construction codes, share information with customers and employees.
  • Maintain consistent level of professionalism while representing Dunn Lumber Company.
  • Follow all Dunn Lumber Company and State and Federal safety policies.
  • Attend all necessary safety meetings.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Directly Supervises

  • Under the direction of the Inside Sales Supervisor, the Counter Sales person is responsible to create relationships and provide sales assistance to customers in an efficient manner while maintaining a clean work area.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking and sitting.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to work at computer or desk area for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel and crouch.
  • Frequent use of visual abilities including seeing short and long distances and in color.
